Veterinarian

Tell us about your career from when you graduated college up to this point.

Hi, I'm Dr. Brooke Ferguson! After graduating from the North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine, where I earned my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degee in 1998, I began my career practicing in the Raleigh area, where I worked for 10 years. I focused on small animal and equine care. I later moved to Winston-Salem and have been practicing in the area for the past 18 years.

Why did you choose the veterinary profession?

There was never any other choice of profession for me. I’ve loved animals for as long as I can remember and was fortunate to grow up with a father who was a small animal veterinarian. I cherish the relationships I’ve built over the years where animals and their owners become like family and I’m able to walk with them throughout their lifetime.

What is your favorite part of being a veterinarian?

My favorite part of veterinary medicine is being able to advocate for the highest level of care for each animal as if it were my own. Over the years, I’ve built lasting relationships with pets and their owners, and many of them truly feel like family. It’s incredibly rewarding to walk with them through every stage of their pet’s life.

Tell us about your certifications.

I am certified in veterinary acupuncture through the Chi Institute in Reddick, Florida. I also completed certification in Healing Touch for Animals in Denver, Colorado. My special areas of interest include internal medicine, holistic veterinary medicine, and geriatric care.

What are your personal hobbies and interests?

I enjoy horseback riding, hiking, biking, swimming, traveling, and spending time outdoors in general. I also love reading and cherish any opportunity to spend time with family and friends.
