Veterinary Assistant or Technician (RVT, LVT, CVT) Responsibilities:
- Assist veterinarians in examinations and procedures (sample collection, performing cytologies, blood testing, taking radiographs, administering and monitoring anesthesia, performing dental cleanings, assisting in surgical procedures, etc.)
- Handle and restrain animals safely.
- Administer IV, IM, SQ medications and vaccinations as directed.
- Maintain accurate electronic medical records and documentation.
- Educate pet owners on proper care, diagnostics, treatments, and health maintenance for their animals. Client communication: medical/surgical discharges and test results under supervision of DVMs.
In-house equipment: Idexx ProCyte, Catalyst, Sedivue; Idexx Digital Radiography; Ultrasound; DaySmart cloud-based software; Electrocautery and LigaSure surgical instruments.
At least one year of previous veterinary assistant or technician experience is required.
